Canary Wharf Floating Restaurant

It seems like a regular request for our aerial team at the moment, End of the week we’re getting ready to switch off and enjoy the weekend, but Hashtag media reached out to us in desperate need to find a team of aerial guys that knew the industry and supplied the goods.

The guys from HashTag media approached us on a Friday morning looking for a drone company to shoot some aerial pictures at Canary Wharf first thing monday “We said yes!”

Time wasn’t on our side, we needed to seek approval in two highly restrictive zones in the middle of central London, We got to work and speaking with the correct authorities to seek the necessary approvals. Firstly we spoke with London City’s tower to establish the logistics and then submitted our paperwork with the Civil Aviation Authority to request access within the airspace at the times we needed.

The most challenging of all our flight approvals was to gain access to fly within R159, one of 3 UK airspaces within central London that are extremely high risk areas, these are closely monitored by a dedicated team of police from London Mets anti terrorism unit.

After all approvals were granted we reached out with Canary Wharf’s construction, Security and estate management team to determine our locations whilst on site.

We quickly got the drone in the air at Canary Wharf Group to capture stuning cinematic aerials whilst they took delivery of two floating pavilions which were towed into the iconic area of Canary Wharf on the River Thames. Now located in the docks of Canary Wharf’s new neighbourhood, Wood Wharf, one of these aqua based constructs will be the home of a stunning new restaurant by the end of the year.
