Hand Launching a Drone in One of the World's Busiest Shipping Lanes: A Skillful Feat

the swim

In a world full of uncertainty, a little bit of positive energy can go a long way. Being able to witness someone accomplish their lifelong dream can help lift your spirits and bring a sense of inspiration. It's a job that I will always remember and cherish for years to come. I want to extend my gratitude to Skipper Harry Mardle and his father Fred from Masterpiece Charters for their gracious hospitality and providing us with hot drinks onboard.

Despite it being a long day, the experience was truly amazing as we documented Erwan Le Roy's incredible journey of crossing the English Channel in just 15 hours and 7 minutes. We captured some stunning aerial footage above the world's busiest shipping lane, which added a cinematic touch to the overall documentation. It was an unforgettable moment, and I feel grateful to have been part of such an incredible team..

There's no experience quite like being part of a video team documenting the fulfillment of someone's lifelong dream to swim the English Channel, a grueling 21-mile journey that's the aquatic equivalent of scaling Mount Everest. The swim can take anywhere from 7 to 27 hours or even longer, depending on the swimmer's pace and the conditions they encounter on the day of the crossing.

But no matter how long it takes, the sense of accomplishment and triumph at the end is truly unparalleled. As a member of the video team, you get a front-row seat to witness the determination, stamina, and sheer willpower it takes to conquer this challenging feat.
