Knitting a Netting from Whitstable Beach - LIVE

It was a pleasure to Provide A LIVE Video broadcast for the Estuary Art, Music, Literature and Film festival.

Providing a reliable and robust video transport from a Kent beach was no sweat for the team. The festival celebrates the lives, landscapes and histories of the spectacular Thames Estuary. Taking place on the river itself, and along the 107 miles of South Essex and North Kent coastline, contemporary artworks, discussion and events explore and respond to powerful themes resonant to the estuary.

Live streaming from the beach certainly has its own challenges, especially when you need power and connectivity to run equipment. We knew we had to keep our camera rig simple but effective.

When it comes to keeping things simple, this is what we took with us:

  • Sony FS7 Mk2

  • Fujinon 18-55 T2.9

  • Sachtler Flowtech Carbon Fibre Tripod

  • Sennhieser MKH600 Microphone & Rycote Windjammer & Stand

  • LIveU & Load balanced Sim cards

We created a solid and reliable video data transport using 3 bonded sim cards in our LiveU which pushed the content from Whitstable directly into our servers with low latency.
